Hand and Wrist Condition Guide

Trigger Finger

Narrowing around a finger tendon can cause catching, clicking, or difficulty straightening the finger.

Understanding Trigger Finger

Trigger finger develops when friction increases between a finger tendon and the tunnel it passes through. Symptoms can be worse in the morning and may include tenderness in the palm, clicking, or the finger becoming temporarily locked.

Treatment Direction

Assessing the Stage

We distinguish pain alone from true catching or locking of the finger.

Nonsurgical Treatment

Medication, injection treatment, and adjustments in hand use are considered first in earlier stages.

Notice

A treatment plan is not determined by the condition name alone. Examination findings, ultrasound results, and daily limitations are considered together.

Do not put off persistent pain. Have it checked.
